Wellspring Church

Walking with God is a Journey; it is an expedition. There are territories we never imagined and realities we never knew existed until we find ourselves in him. We were made to live in the presence of God, to carry His presence, and to change the environment as a result of this divine reality. Salvation is not a destination but a boarding station for a whole new way of living. It’s time to start your journey today.

All aboard!

Ministry does not take place only behind the walls of a church, in the pulpit, or at the church altar. Ministry happens everyday, everywhere just like it did through Jesus and the early church. We do not go to church, we are the church. We meet together to be equipped and trained for the journey. This is a Spirit led expedition into the great unknown with the unseen God into a land of endless possibilities.

There are five ministry gifts for the church (the people) which are given to equip us for the work of the ministry (Eph. 4:11-13). These gifts include: Apostles (or pioneering ministry founders, church planting missionaries, humble leaders of leaders), Prophets (voices of awakening, encouragement, and repentance to establish the church using dreams, visions, miracles, signs, and wonders), Evangelists (these are the ones stirring the church to action and calling sinners to repentance through the preaching of Jesus’ cross of redemption and the new life from the empty tomb), Pastors (servant leaders of the local group of believers who teach, nurture, train, lead, and love like Jesus [the Great Shepherd]), and Teachers (those gifted to teach, train, and provide clarity for us all to do the work of the ministry throughout our life’s journey). You may be called into one of these giftings or you may be called to use the gifts of the spirit wherever you are to see the kingdom come.

The gifts of the Spirit include: Words of wisdom (wise advice), Words of knowledge (special knowledge, revealed knowledge), Faith (an exceptional measure of faith), Healing, Miracles, Prophecy (the ability to speak the word of God clearly and have divine foresight), Discernment (a distinct gift for readily knowing what is of God and what is false), Tongues (unlearned languages and unknown languages), Interpretation of Tongues (the ability to understand the gift of tongues and unlearned languages), Service (to serve others well, without condition), Teaching, Encouragement, Giving, Leadership, and Mercy.  [I Cor. 12:4-11; Romans 12:3-8]

The ultimate mark of a believer is not their church meeting attendance, reputation among the people, or the use of their spiritual gifts but the evidence of their God-changed and God-filled life. The word of God calls these character traits the fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is evidenced through love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal. 5:22-23). These attributes of heaven’s character should be the most evident work of God in our lives that draws others to him (I Cor. 13).

Whatever your gift is or whatever leadership gift God has called you to be to the church you should use it freely to bless others in the church and change the world around you. Doing so displays God’s immeasurable grace and shows the powers of the spiritual realm God’s power and wisdom. Walking in our gifts and callings is elemental to being a follower of Jesus. – I Peter 4:7-11, Eph. 3:10
